MANAGING PSYCHOSIS

Most people with psychosis will benefit from a combination of different treatments to help them manage their illness. Your psychiatrist and key worker will work with you to develop a treatment plan which is specific to you and that will help you get well. These treatments will probably include the following:

Medication

Most people with psychosis need medication to help control their symptoms.

Talking therapies such as counselling are often helpful.

Lifestyle

Taking care of yourself is important. Regular exercise and a good diet can help you feel better. Try to avoid triggers (eg stress, alcohol, drugs) which can make your illness worse.

Support

Friends, family, caregivers and your treatment team can all be great sources of support.
